Reporter/producer at Jefferson Public Radio

April 2022 - present

  • Wrote, tracked, and mixed compelling cut/copies and wraps for daily newscast, in addition to building web posts

  • Pitched and crafted in-depth local features about community issues, from train derailments to charter school proposals

  • Won the SPJ (Greater Oregon and Western Washington chapters) Annual Excellence in Journalism Award - second place in investigative reporting 

  • ​Routinely pitched and aired stories on NPR 

  • Appeared weekly on JPR’s live talk show to discuss my reporting; appeared as a guest on OPB’s talk shows twice 

  • Initiated and organized the newsroom-wide tracking of demographic information for all sources to ensure fair representation

  • Learned to write precise and clear FOIA requests, filed weekly requests, and conducted research for investigations

  • Used data I obtained through a FOIA request to publish an article about pre- and post-pandemic eviction rates, which led to being interviewed for a 2way on All Things Considered about my work

March 2020 - July 2021

  • Crafted more than 20 readers and cut/scripts for daily newscast using tape I collected in the field

  • Created a non-narrated feature about elderly residents returning to senior centers after closures due to COVID-19​​

  • Promoted to full-time producer role after completion of fellowship​​

  • Pitched weekly show ideas, then researched, booked, and directed 70 hour-long shows for the daily live local talk show

  • Wrote nuanced, specific questions for a variety of engaging guests and collaborated with the host to develop organized scripts

  • Designed and implemented The Exchange’s first weekly newsletter to engage our audience and promote our shows

  • Spearheaded the development of a three-part series on the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic on mental health

  • Pitched 12 stories weekly and handled article production from conception to publication for the local weekly newspaper

  • Crafted six articles weekly covering five school districts and nine towns, ranging from 1,800 to 17,000 residents
